UGANDA//

The rural forest landscape of the Kabale District is home to various tribes that are constantly trying to sustain themselves.  Development In Gardening's mission in this region is similar to the Kenya project. One of the tribes involved in the community farming program is the Batwa.  The Batwa is the most underserved and marginalized tribes in Uganda.  Originally a hunter-gatherer tribe of the Echuya Forest until banished by the Ugandan Government in 1991 to establish a National Park for the Guerrillas, the Batwa struggle to survive.  No longer recognized by the Ugandan Government and with no land to call their own they rely on programs like Development In Gardening.
